Our turbulent times demand bold, effective solutions to complex challenges. We must keep Texas strong and safe.

Therefore, my priorities as the Texas House Representative for District 57 during the 90th Legislative Session include, first and foremost, working hand in hand with my constituents to champion bills of benefit to the District. These include continuing active support of property tax relief for property owners and firmly addressing out-of-control insurance rates and healthcare costs.

Equally important is ensuring the state’s basic infrastructure—roads, power, and water—will have the capacity to meet the needs of District 57’s continuing, explosive growth. Quality infrastructure also is essential to maintenance of our strong economy, as is ensuring performance-based incentives are available to new businesses that bring good-paying jobs.

Seeking solutions to public school funding while supporting our teachers in the classroom, requiring testing that makes sense, and ensuring every child is safe at school remain high priorities on my list.

Also essential is for the Legislature to continue to respect our police, other first responders, and veterans through additional, supportive legislation. Quietly overarching all is maintenance of election integrity, because healthy, vibrant democracy cannot exist without a secure election process.

Effective legislation is crucial, but sometimes good laws don’t get passed because the process often is slow and overly political. I also look forward to continuing to champion the breaking of logjams that hinder passage of laws of benefit to my constituents in District 57 and Texas.
